Movin' on up...

Well a lot has happened to us in the past few weeks, and unfortunately this post won't include any exciting pictures. But I do have a few to post later. Most of you already know, but for those who don't, I lost my job a few weeks ago. It sounds bad, but it's really a great blessing and it has been wonderful. I have worked for a software developing company for the past 2 years and it has been a great learning experience for me. I gained so much experience and for the most part, I enjoyed it. I was blessed to be able to work from home up here in Logan for the past year and half while going to school. That was awesome and I'm grateful for that.

Anyway, to keep it short, technically I was "laid off", but basically it was a moral battle that I lost. I stood up for something I thought was important and right and things that I felt strongly about, and because of that, I was let go. My old manager (who was amazing) left the company for another job and the new manager (who didn't want to be there and wasn't managing us) was treating our department and me especially really awful. I still can't believe that people can treat others as badly as he has and especially in a work environment. It was sad and I tried to talk to others in the company about it and although everyone was on my side, the big man in charge didn't like it and now here I am. I knew that when I decided to stand up for what was right that because of the way the company was run, that I could very well be fired. But I tend to still fight for things I think are right and so I didn't back down and because of that I was fired.

But....things definitely worked out for the best! Even though it was hard and upsetting to have it actually happen and to go through all that, I learned a lot and now I have a great little vacation before I start a new job in May! Way back in December I got offered a great job in the IT department at the Flying J Headquarters in Ogden. I accepted it and it was only a matter of time before I quit my old job. So basically I just have a lot more time to focus on finishing up school and to relax! So if you didn't figure it out by now, Dan and I will be moving to Ogden in about a month! I will graduate May 2 and we should move around then. To be honest, Ogden is not my favorite place, but the job is great and our plan is to move into an apartment for a few months then buy a house! Woo hoo! I can't wait to get a house and I made up my mind about a year ago that I would be living in a house 2 years from then. My roommates thought I was a little weird, but it's just a goal I've had and luckily Dan shares it with me! Right now is a great time to buy so hopefully we can find a cute place near my job (Kaysville, Syracuse, or surrounding cities). We'll also be closer to family which will be awesome. Dan will probably transfer to WSU and find a new job down there.

We will definitely be sad to leave Logan and Dan has really grown to love it even though he hated it at first! Logan has been a great place to live and even though it was only 30 degrees today (March 26...), I could live here for the rest of my life and be happy! It's beautiful and quiet and I love it! But it doesn't have quite the same job market as Salt Lake area so we're hitting the road.

Well this has been too long and I never write long blog posts, I usually just post way too many pictures. Anyway, now the 3 people who read my blog (1 of which didn't already know about all this) can be filled in our lives and know what we're up to. I'm nervous to move and change and start a "real" job, and I won't know what to do with myself after I graduate, but I'm also excited! We have a great life and it will only get better! I'm so happy that I have Dan to share it with me and help me through it all!!

Way to stand up for what's right. Sorry you had to lose your job for it. Good luck finishing up. Wow!

At least Ogden has a Target, and a decent mall :) Hopefully we'll still be able to hang out when you guys move!

First off-- who is "anonymous"? Weird.
Second-- I totally want to know the rest of the story now. Am I that nosy? Yes, I am.

SO sorry to hear about that! I have been in a similar situation as you at work, and sadly enough sometimes standing up for what you believe in doesn't get you very far....at least in the work place. But it builds your character! Go Girl! and the word to post a comment was frick! very fitting if you ask me!
